Belief in your ability to achieve weight loss for life is often slowly eroded after years of dieting and women just like you often ask me…
“How do I lose weight for life, I just don’t believe I can?”
So it’s no surprise perhaps that most enquiries about weight loss begin with a limiting belief. A belief that the weight cannot be lost but they have to try to do something yet again! I’m writing this blog to explain that starting from this point is never going to achieve a positive outcome, can you see why?
Working on your beliefs is the best starting point and another reason that diets simply do not work for life! A diet only works whilst you diet!
So when we want to make life and behaviour changes it’s absolutely vital that we get to a point of accepting we do want to do it. It may be fearful, may be daunting but it’s driven by a desire.
“A tool kit without the ‘tools’ won’t help you manage your emotional eating”
The way forward and away from emotional eating is as easy as ABC
Accept you are eating to manage your emotions
Build your self-belief and self-esteem
Create positive lifelong change
Here’s food for thought…
I do understand that weight loss can feel very difficult, it feels hard and it can even feel impossible but when was the last time you actually went through a process of increasing self esteem and then working on your weight? Don’t you ordinarily search for the latest diets and expect and crave fast weight loss and then you’ll like yourself?
Long-term weight loss needs a shift in thinking. It requires that you go through a process to get to the point of accepting yourself now. Your increase in value and body confidence will help you to maintain weight loss. Looking at what you have now, appreciating you are more than just your weight and some motivation for patience will all help you to release the weight.
“What does your weight give you, yes what purpose does it really serve?”
So the A and B are all about building the foundations to let go of weight, they are what I always build within my coaching sessions and after creating this it’s about keeping these firm supports in place for a positive long term result. You may be improving your mood, letting go of the past or making other life and lifestyle changes to finally move on and enjoy your body once more.
So as you gain more self -belief, self- worth and confidence you begin to secure the scaffolding that holds the habit changes in place, the C. It also allows you to take back the responsibility for your actions, feel safe and back in control. Loving the skin you are in and enjoying a more fulfilling life.
Give yourself permission to let go of the weight, there’s so much you can do and I hope you feel inspired to do it…For life!
What’s your experience? Do share…
