Take in the View…

A blog of reflection for today, whatever day that happens to be when you join me on my blog. This is a reflection of a beautiful Sunday in May and a thoughtful act that changed the course of my day.

Every day I walk and each and every day I use this time to think about the day ahead, explore, discover and yes resolve in some instances. It’s a wonderful time, it’s a time of clarity and I also now realise it’s a time when I can escape into nature still further.

So this Sunday was different from my weekday walk, I was with Michael, my husband and as usual after a brief conversation about how glorious the day was I started to sift through my thoughts.  Now perhaps a Sunday morning wasn’t quite the right time or space for this level of thought and it all felt rather overwhelming. I knew that sharing this was the best thing to do, better out than in I always say. As I spoke I felt his hands on my shoulders, I was gently halted and Michael turned to me and said said “Just look. Look at all this we have around us, look at where we live” It stopped me wonderfully in my tracks and my thoughts stilled as I took in the view. He was right, just look at the golden rape fields stretched out before us, the brightest of blue sky, the sounds of peace and luxury of warmth. This was pure heaven and at that moment I left my thoughts, left them for another time and took the time to appreciate all I had and all we were sharing together on a beautiful day.

Thank you Michael and when I walk there today I’ll stop to take in the view. When did you last stop and  really appreciate the day and your view?
