This face…

As I looked in the mirror and removed the lid of my moisturiser this morning I thought about my face and all the action it’s seen over the years. I thought of it’s journey to arrive at 45 and I do like the story it tells. Some of the stories have been so much fun and some painfully sad and even tragic. I am not even sure if this face tells all of my stories or perhaps just a select few.

This face has played, looked skyward and baked on sun drenched beaches, without sun protection or a thought for it’s welfare. It’s been sand blasted and frozen by icy winds and snow until it’s red raw. It’s come home from a night out, a little the worse for wear and been neglected until morning. This face has stood the test of time and I am grateful to it!

So would I want to erase my story, that’s an absolute NO! What I can do is give back to this face, this face that speaks to you before I utter a single word and I can look after it, cherish it and give it the time it always deserved and rarely got!

I’m grateful and appreciative to Maz for her amazing photography using natural light to capture my true face, no airbrushing, no reason to hide my years and this my face that tells my unique story. So love the skin you’re in, appreciate your face and let it tell your stories, the stories of your life.

Happy Day

    What a wonderful blog Jayne
My laughter and pain lines remind me how lucky I’ve been.
Having lost some amazing friends in the last few years, I celebrate
My wrinkles and love that my roots are grey.
    I made it!
Great reminder to celebrate our years. Thank you.

Dinah thanks so much, yes we’ve made it! We’ve got past obstacles and arrived at a time of increased awareness and opportunities. I say we grab all the life we are offered and cherish every moment. Thanks for sharing with us

Its funny I have just seen the new video for my website and I can see the lines on my face and thought ‘wow’ did not know I had that many. But it is a good thing as people will see I have life experience behind me – btw you have a gorgeous face.

Thanks Naomi! We don’t see our true self as others see us and yes you can a photo or video and be surprised at what you notice that’s new. We can’t possibly spend years in our skin and not leave behind tracks, the evidence of all we encounter both the great and not so great. Your face is beautiful and tells your story!

Hello Jayne love your blogs and such clever words.
I prefer to not look at my face because its years older and doesn’t feel as young as Me.

Perhaps if you get used to the image that looks back of you, how you feel and look will start to gel, feel more like a great match! Years are simply numbers, who makes the rules…we do! Love your years Thelma and thanks for taking the time to comment :-)

Jayne, what a fab blog! Yes, our faces show our lives and we should be proud of them. We may not always like a certain picture of it, or the mirror view, but it is US and others see it differently through their experiences. Yours shows your beautiful spirit. Xxx
